It's been a couple of years since I've exhibited at a fair in New York so I'm over the moon to announce that I will be showing new works at Art on Paper in conjunction with the Armory Show this week.

I've decided to call this year's Art Basel offerings 'The Year of Charlie Lee'. This spring, after attending the opening of my solo booth at Art Market, Charlie pulled me aside and asked if I would consider creating portraits of him and his two good friends Joe and Roland, who are Vietnam Veterans and served with Charlie. We spent a wonderful afternoon drinking Budweiser, chatting and shooting reference images.

I’m delighted to announce the exhibition of a brand new body of work, opening Oct 7th at Tinney Contemporary in Nashville, TN.
The collection of 24 drawings comes out of my search for an understanding of new surroundings after relocating to Tulsa, OK from San Francisco at the beginning of 2017 to participate in the year-long Tulsa Artist Fellowship.

Last night I stepped off a plane into the terrifyingly delicious, sticky heat of Florida and was startled to realize that December in Miami is becoming a tradition. For the 3rd consecutive year I will have work showing in the frenetic, delightful cacophony that is Art Basel, Miami Beach.

Eugene #4 (pictured) was selected from more than 2500 entrees to be included in the National Portrait Gallery's prestigious Outwin-Boochever Portrait Competition at the Smithsonian. The work was not only selected for the exhibition, but was also one of 7 works shortlisted for the first prize (and ended up with 3rd place). The exhibition will open in March of 2016 and will travel to 4 museums after spending a year at the National Portrait Gallery.

2015 if off to a running start. While this is great news in terms of my work, it is bad news in terms of keeping all of you updated. So, please forgive the scattered nature of this post.
I began January with the 4th annual Supersonic Electronic Invitational, hosted by Spoke Art. It was an amazing experience to be part of a show that included such a fabulous lineup with work from Sail, João Ruas, Henrik Uldalen and many other artists I've admired for years. A big thank you to Zach Tutor, who curated the show, for including me.

It's been a really fun year. Fittingly, the last art event of 2014 was an exhibition at Scope Art Fair Miami with Hashimoto Contemporary, as part of Art Basel Miami Beach. With 29 satellite fairs and countless pop-up shows in addition to the main fair, Art Basel is always a crazy week to say the least.

After spending almost 1/3 of the year working entirely on this body of work, I was both delighted and relieved at the wonderfully positive response to my solo show, 'I Am Another Yourself' at Hashimoto Contemporary this Sept. Apparently I wasn’t quite excited enough to be better at keeping up with my blog, however.

The day I moved to San Francisco in May of 2011, I was minding my own business and happily dodging heroin needles as I ambled along the sidewalk in SOMA. I was walking back from returning my Budget truck, and I happened to wander past some lovely folks who didn't look at all to have dropped said needles. They were setting up a beautiful art fair nearby. This fair turned out to be artMRKT, and a generous curator gave me a few extra passes to the 2011 event. (I think it must have been due to my obvious needle-dodging-skills)
